Hi, my name is Aiste!
If I asked people I know to describe me, they probably would say "she's active, outdoorsy, likes all things movement, loves anatomy, student for life".
While all of the above is true I have a better understanding of how the body moves now compared to when I was younger and spent a lot of time in the gym, running marathons etc......And never STRETCHED my muscles.
Eventually my body started telling me "something needs to change".
My back was achy, hips where so tight that I couldn't squat with proper form, sitting crossed leg wasn't comfortable at all, had limited range of motion in my shoulders. And the biggest obstacle of all was my limiting belief, that if I stretch, I will loose my strength, silly right? Couldn't be further from the truth.
So 2020 I began practicing yoga, hoping to get more flexible.
Very soon I discovered, that Yoga is so much more than stretching. It's an ancient practice with deep philosophy roots. It helped me in more ways than one. I was feeling less stressed out and reactive to "little things in life". It helped me to develop body awareness: ability to sense what is happening in my body when I move or stay still, helped me regulate stress and anxiety through controlled breathing exercises. Benefits of this wonderful practice are Endless.
And let me tell you, one yoga class can change your day for the better.
2021 I got my 200Hr Yoga Teacher Certification, started teaching classes to my lovely community.
Although yoga asana practice helped me to get more flexible, I was still looking for more effective and efficient way to gain more flexibility and mobility in my body. I Did a lot of self study through books and workshops, got certified in Science of stretching coaching program, through YOGABODY, and applied all that in my own practice.
MY MISSION IS FOR YOU TO REALISE HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO MOVE FREELY.
Why Flexibility is important?
Good flexibility and suppleness is important for quality of life and is essential for any fitness plan or sport you are participating.
Flexibility, strength , balance, power and endurance are essential components in human movement. But there's a lot of emphasis on building strength in modern fitness culture, while neglecting very important component of flexibility training to maintain healthy range of motion in our joints.
Consider balancing your strength with Flexibility . Passive stretching should be treated as supplemental routine to the other things you are doing to enhance your well-being.
In my classes I include passive and active flexibility exercises. So that we not only increasing our passive flexibility, but also strengthening muscles in their new , improved range of motion.
Other benefits of stretching:
it can help you to relax and down-regulate your nervous system.

improves blood circulation in muscles
could help prevent injuries

If you
are tired of waking up and feeling tightness in your body

You may need yoga mat ( or soft carpet) a cushion or blanket, couple of yoga blocks, or any household item that resembles the blocks, like thick books, stool..also yoga strap ( belt, scarf, elastic band or anything similar is totally suitable). You don't need to purchase anything extra.
